Bio
After earning a bachelor's degree in English from Georgia State University, living and studying abroad in Newcastle, England, and obtaining a master's degree in teaching literature from Bard College in New York, I began teaching at a newly merged private school in rural South Carolina. At the private school, I taught 8th-12th grade grammar and accelerated literature, as well as small group (special education) 9th-12th grade literature. From there, I moved to Atlanta and taught high school literature in DeKalb County, where I had an average of 98-99% passing rates for 9th Grade Literature and 11th Grade American Literature GA Milestone End of Course exams (EOCs). After DeKalb County, I transitioned to Atlanta Public Schools to teach at a school that was on the state take-over list. I was the sole English teacher for 12th grade at the high school where I taught, and had and 89-99% graduation rate for the English Department.

Fast-forward to the 2020 COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic, which shook our world and made many of our daily routines come to a life-altering halt. My world seemed to have changed over night. I quickly adapted to teaching online via Google Meet and acclimated to maintaining student rapport by doing mental health check-ins via the Remind phone app during quarantine. After a transformative final quarter of the 2019-20 academic year, I decided to leave Atlanta Public Schools to pursue my passions of literature education consulting and mental health awareness (through my online apothecary and outreach startup— that's another story on another website). ...And here we are!
